The Women and Youth Care Empowerment Initiative (WAYCE) is thrilled to announce the launch of a new music academy in the Obowo East area of Imo State, Nigeria! We identified a significant challenge among young people and average-aged children in these communities: a lack of clear direction and engagement in their lives. To address this, we decided to harness the power of music to nurture talent, provide purpose, and foster creativity.

Our call for participants was met with an overwhelming response, with over 60 aspiring musicians expressing keen interest in joining the training program. The formal inauguration of the academy took place on April 30, 2025, at Umungwa Primary School, Obowo. The event was a resounding success, graced by esteemed dignitaries who share our vision for youth empowerment.

The inauguration featured inspiring words from our leadership. Barr. Nneoma G. Okafor, the Executive Director of Women and Youth Care Empowerment Initiative, delivered a heartfelt admonition to the prospective trainees, encouraging them to embrace this opportunity and dedicate themselves to their musical journeys.

We are incredibly excited to announce that the music academy training officially kicks off on May 2, 2025! We look forward to witnessing the incredible talent that will emerge from this program and the positive change it will bring to the lives of these young individuals.
